THE LONE SOLDIER

Desert winds storm across this hazed and fervent heat
I struggle to come to you
But come to you I must
For ne'er once did you forsake me
I lay suffering, and you found me
Answering the whispers of my despair
Carried upon the breath of a moonlight prayer
Speak louder, for I can hardly catch your echo
Still the heat beats down to break my will
I struggle to come to you
But come to you I must
Against the odds
Raising my sword I scream your name
Sand attempts to silence my mouth
Your kiss, your sweet red lipped kiss
This my love, this alone quenches my thirst
Feeds my soul
I the lone soldier of your army
Casting aside the white flag of defeat
Tired and worn
Battle scarred and angered
I force myself to your side
For I can see you
Beyond the horizon you wait for me
Cool, calming, comforting
With the surrendering sun at your back
And not a cloud in sight
